Orientation of the Blade Holders

KUHN power harrow blade holders are positioned to provide a progressive crumbling of the soil by the blades. This precise and exclusive layout prevents the harrow from excessive vibrations while at the same time reducing the power consumption.

Depth Control

Roller height is easily adjusted with a simple to use multi-hole and stop-pin selector. The HR 404 D offers three different rollers to meet your depth control needs.

Roller Options

The HR 404 D offers three roller options to compliment your KUHN power harrow:
  • The MaxiPacker rear roller is standard on the HR 404 D. With an overall diameter of 21” (54 cm), it is a versatile roller that performs well in most soil conditions. To help improve performance in wet and sticky ground, adjustable scraper plates located between the rows of studs keep the roller clean.
  • The Packer PK2 rear roller is 19.1” (49 cm) in diameter and optional on the HR 404 D. The PK2 is a versatile roller that performs especially well in wetter and stickier soils, or as a seedbed preparation roller.
  • The MaxiCrumbler rear roller option is 20.5” (52 cm) in diameter. It is best suited to finishing dry soils and features heavy bars to withstand rocky conditions.

Dependable Components

Rotor Drive

Rotors are driven by large-diameter gears. Power transmission to the blades is ensured by numerous teeth fully engaged at all times. The rotor drive design has contributed to build the highly reliable reputation of KUHN power harrows, the result of more than 30 years of experience and success.

Gearboxes for Every Condition

The aim of seedbed preparation is a fine, structured and leveled seedbed for uniform plant development in one pass to save costs. But working conditions are as varied as soils are. In general, the soil should be worked as intensively as necessary, but as little as possible. It’s important for you to have a well-made gearbox to thoroughly match your operation’s working conditions.

Duplex Gearbox

The HR 404 D is equipped with a heavy-duty duplex gearbox with switchable rotor speeds. The two gearwheels can be inverted to change the rotor speed and additional gearsets are available as field-installed options. With up to 5 rotor speeds (at 1,000 PTO rpm), the HR 404 D can work with a wide variety of soil types while still creating the desired tilth and clod breakup.
